S. Harikrishnan, MBBS, MD, DM, FRCP received his training in Medicine (MBBS) from Medical College, Trivandrum, Internal Medicine (MD) from University of Calicut  and Cardiology (DM) from the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, India. After completing my training in 1998, he joined his parent Institute SCTIMST as a faculty and is currently Additional Professor there.  He was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship in 2004 and underwent fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology in Leeds University, UK.
In addition to his clinical duties, he is also involved in teaching post-doctoral trainees in cardiology. He is also a faculty in the Achuthamenon Center for health Science studies attached to SCTIMST, which is one of the initial public health schools in India.

Dr Harikrishnan is involved in research initiatives in-relation to cardiovascular disease epidemiology in the country, especially from the state of Kerala. He has initiated the first heart failure registry in India – The Trivandrum Heart Failure Registry with the Support of Indian Council of Medical Research. He was the regional co-ordinator of the Kerala ACS (acute Coronary Syndrome) registry which is the largest ACS registry in the Country. He is also the co-PI of the Kerala CSI-CRP study which assessed the prevalence of coronary artery disease in Kerala Population.  He has just initiated the PROKERLA- the first Pulmonary Hypertension Registry in India.

Dr Harikrishnan has a strong interest in pursuing research in the field of cardiovascular epidemiology especially in assessing the burden of the disease in the country. His aim is to pursue his interest in public health and also to continue his duties and responsibilities on the clinical side.
