Biography

Dr. Sitanshu Kar holds his doctoral degree in Community Medicine from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India, completed a MBA in Hospital Management from Annamalai University, Chidambaram, India, and is a FAIMER fellow from PSG FAIMER Regional Institute, Coimbatore, India. He is an Associate Professor in the department of Preventive and Social Medicine, at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, India, with nine years of teaching and research experience. Prior to joining JIPMER, he served in the WHO Country office for India as National Consultant in the NCD and Mental Health Cluster, and at the Population Council, New Delhi, as Programme Officer. He hopes to learn advocacy, networking and collaborative research skills during his time as a PH LEADER participant and to utilize this experience to assume a leadership role in the area of NCD prevention.
