Biography

Melva Robertson is associate director of media relations for Emory's Woodruff Health Sciences Communications.  She develops and maintains local and national media relations for the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory Orthopaedics and Spine Center, and the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
Melva has an extensive career in health communications and works very closely with physicians, researchers and patients to garner positive and informative news stories about relevant health science.  She also conducts media trainings for public health leaders at Rollins School of Public Health to help them effectively communicate their research findings and expertise to the public. Prior to Emory, she served as communications outreach liaison/risk communicator for the Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response at Cobb & Douglas Public Health. Before that, she was the communications manager for Morehouse School of Medicine and media relations specialist for Grady Health System.
She gained newsroom experience from FOX 5 Atlanta and CBS 46 Atlanta. Her communications specialties include developing internal and external communications strategies, media relations, writing, and video production.
