Biography

Gabriela Torres is an epidemiologist and director of the Department of Chronic Diseases, in the Center for Population Health Research at the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico. She contributes to the mission of the Institute through her research activities on breast cancer which are focused on generating scientific knowledge, and working with decision makers to develop health policies.

Dr. Torres has established several national and international collaborations in order to promote the improvement of knowledge among faculty and students. She is author and co-author of more than 30 scientific papers that have appeared in peer-reviewed journals and has been PI of several breast cancer research projects. Dr. Torres is also a member of the School of Public Health, where she teaches Epidemiology, and coordinates both the Master´s in Science degree program and the Epidemiology PhD program.
